As part of Republic Day celebrations 2019, a mini-marathon was organised by the Southern Air Command (SAC) under its ‘Know Your Forces’ campaign on the Shanghumugham beach here on Saturday.
The event was held to promote awareness among school and college students about the Indian Air Force and to motivate them to join the IAF.
It was flagged off by Air Vice Marshal B. Chandra Sekhar. Around 500 runners, who included Air Force personnel, cadets of Sainik School, Kazhakuttam, and others took part in the run. The enthusiastic runners wound their way through AF Station, Veli beach covering a distance of about 10 km.
