Milk self-sufficiency by year-end: Minister

Perunkadavila block tops district in milk production

The State will become self-sufficient in milk production by the end of the year, Minister for Dairy Development K. Raju has said.

He was speaking after inaugurating the distribution of incentive AMC financial aid as part of the Ksheerasamruddhi subsidy scheme at Kunnathukal here on Wednesday.

The Minister said Kerala was producing 87% of its milk requirement. Dairy farmers in the State were also getting the best remunerative price for milk in the country. The Perunkadavila block topped the district in milk production, and an amount of ₹1 crore had been set aside as incentive, Perunkadavila block president P. Sujathakumari said. Automatic milk collection units were given away to milk societies on the occasion.
