Man dies of heart attack while driving

An ex-serviceman, Gopinathan Nair, 72, of Kalliyoor died of cardiac arrest while he was driving to the Pangode Military Hospital on Monday.

The Poojappura police said Nair was on his way for a monthly health check-up at the hospital when he suffered chest pain around 6.45 a.m. He stopped his car, in which he was travelling alone, near the SBT branch at Kunchalumoodu. Local people, seeing him in pain, alerted the police, who rushed him to the Medical College Hospital, where he breathed his last at 7.20 a.m.

The police said doctors at the MCH had confirmed that it was a cardiac arrest. The body was handed over to relatives after autopsy.
