June 08, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

The City police have issued a lookout notice for two Africans in connection with a cheating case in the city.

According to Suresh V. Nair, Circle Inspector, Thampanoor, the notice was issued for Henry of Guinea-Bissau and Williams of Ghana, who were believed to be still in the country. One of the accused, Mba Dinutu Iftany Jude alias Franklin Desmond, 33, of Nigeria, was arrested here on Saturday.

The case is in connection with Jude allegedly handing over a casket with fake currency worth $ 2.5 million to a woman, Sashikala, a native of Thrissur residing at Karamana in the city, for buying a resort in Varkala. The notes, however, had watermarks on them, and she was asked to pay Rs.7 lakh for an eraser to get rid of the watermark.

Mr. Nair said further investigation was still on into the case and that the lookout notice was passed on to all airports in the country to prevent the other accused in the case from leaving the country.
