Land sought for memorial

January 12, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:58 am IST - Thiruvananthapuram:

The Sri Ayya Mission Trust has urged the State government to provide more land in the city for the renovation of the memorial to Thycaud Sri Ayyaguru, a Tamil saint and scholar who lived in the latter half of the nineteenth century.

At a press meet on Sunday, Swami Rithambarananda, secretary, Sivagiri Madhom, called on the government to evict the fish market at Kannettumukku that was hampering the renovation and establishment of a research centre. They said the Lok Ayukta and the munsiff court had ordered the eviction.

G. Ravikumar, chairman, Ayya Mission, appealed to the government to hand over the land housing the market to the mission.
