Labour panel meet on October 5

October 01, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - Thiruvananthapuram:

Minister for Labour Shibu Baby John has said that the next meeting of the Plantation Labour Committee (PLC) will be held on October 5 here to discuss the problems faced by the striking estate workers. The meeting will be held at the Minister’s chamber from 10 a.m.

Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy indicated that the government preferred to tread the middle path and work out a package that would sustain the plantation sector. “We are hopeful of working out a package that would be in tune with the aspirations of the workers and the ability of the management to pay,” he said. — Special Correspondent
