Kudumbasree wins HUDCO award

The Kudumbasree Poverty Eradication Mission has won HUDCO's award for the best practices in slum improvement through community network.

The award comprises a cash prize of Rs.1,00,000, a citation, and a plaque.

Union Minister for Housing Kumari Selja gave away the award to P.K. Thomas, Director (A&F), S. Karthikeyan, Programme Officer, Kudumbasree, and representatives of Chavakkad municipality and Kudumbasree CDS.

The award was given to Kudumbasree for the lead role taken by Chavakkad municipality CDS in mobilising the community for the development of a slum under the IHSDP project.

Women had taken the lead role in the integrated development of the slum.
