The formalities to take over a loan provided by the Kerala Transport Development Corporation (KTDFC) to the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will be completed this month.
Minister for Transport Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan informed the Assembly on Monday that the formalities by a consortium of 13 banks were nearing completion. The KSRTC was repaying Rs.15 to Rs. 20 crore a month towards the loan taken from the KTDFC.
KURTC revenue
The KSRTC had decided not to provide new concessions in view of the crisis faced by the utility. The newly formed Kerala Urban Road Transport Corporation (KURTC), which operated JNNURM buses, was fetching a daily collection of Rs.34.81 lakh.
IMFL sale down
The sale of IMFL had come down and that of beer went up since the bar licences had been confined to five-star hotels. Minister for Excise K. Babu told the House that the revenue from the sale of IMFL had gone up by Rs.106.44 crore in April this year compared to the same period in 2014-15. The Gulati Institute of Finance and Taxation had been entrusted with a study on the impact on the social and economic fronts, consumption pattern, and on jobs in the liquor industry following the government decision, the Minister said.
Pending files
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy informed the House that 1,22,668 files were pending at the Secretariat as on April this year. Of this, 20,507 were more than one year old. The departments had been asked to hold file adalats and take steps to clear the files.
SPC project
Home Minister Ramesh Chenithala said the much lauded Student Police Cadet (SPC) project had been implemented in 420 schools in the State. A sum of Rs.10 crore was allocated in 2015-16 for the project.
The Forest Minister said 65 quarries had been given licence in the State on the basis of an environment impact study.
