Killed in accident

A 72-year-old morning walker, Gopi of Choozhattukota, was killed after a lorry hit him on the Malayinkeezhu-Pappanamcode road around 7.45 a.m. on Saturday.

The police said Gopi was out for a morning walk when the lorry, laden with tiles, first hit a school bus and then hit him, throwing him off the road. Though local residents rushed him to the Government Medical College Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram, he was declared brought dead.

The police have taken the lorry driver into custody and registered a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder against him. The body of Gopi was handed over to relatives after autopsy.
