Karnan weighs all of 1,700 kg. Not surprising, considering that he consumes 60 kg of fruits and leaves every day.

The Murrah buffalo valued at ₹4.5 lakh is one of the star attractions at Kanakolsavam 2019, the ongoing Nature and Media Expo organised by the Thiruvananthapuram Press Club at the Suryakanthi grounds on the Kanakakunnu Palace premises.

Visitors to the expo jostle with one another to touch and pat Karnan and pose for photos with him. Other cattle breeds like Giri, Kangayam, Vechoor, Krishna and Kapila are among the exhibits, along with goat breeds like Jamnapyari, Beetal, Sirohi and Karoli.

Media exhibition

Hybrid horses including Marwari and Kalpadi, exotic varieties of cats, and several varieties of ornamental birds and fishes are other major attractions. The expo also includes a media exhibition, dance festival, jackfruit, mango and banana fest, medical expo, band and DJ competitions and a national photography contest.

The expo will not disappoint gourmets either. The food festival in the grounds has more than 300 dishes to whet the appetite of visitors.
