Kozhikode, Kerala, 11/10/2019: Jolly Shaju being brogut to NIT-C to collect evidence in Koodathayi murder case on Friday.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Koodathayi case has recorded the formal arrest of Jolly Shaju in the suspicious murder of Mathew Manchadiyil, the fourth victim in the suspected serial killings.

With this, Jolly, the prime suspect, has been arrested in four out of the six already registered murder cases being probed separately by the SIT.

The arrest was recorded by a team of police officers visiting the District Jail on Monday. She had been taken back to the jail as her police custody in Sily murder case ended on Monday.

Mathew Manchadiyil was the first person who reportedly expressed doubts over the suspicious deaths of his three relatives — Tom Thomas, Annamma Thomas and Roy Thomas. He was also the brother of Annamma Thomas, the first victim allegedly endangered by the prime suspect using poison-laced food.

According to the SIT, Jolly targeted Mathew as he was suspicious of her activities. The post-mortem examination of Roy was conducted mainly because of the persistent demand of Mathew.

The presence of cyanide in the body was brought to light through Roy's post-mortem report.
