A 65-year-old man hailing from Sulthan Bathery was nabbed from Attingal on Wednesday following a complaint from two youngsters that he had drefrauded them of Rs.1.5 lakh after promising them job visas in Dubai and Singapore.

According to the Parassala police, the two youngsters, Anish Raj and Deepu V. George, had lodged separate complaints stating that the man, identified as Basheer of Muzafar Manzil in Manjadi, had promised them job visas.

Eight instalments

While he allegedly took Rs.95,000 in about eight instalments from Anish Raj, promising him a visa to Singapore, Basheer is said to have taken Rs.46,000 from Deepu, both via a bank account in Balaramapuram since January this year.

However, both were given no visas, and when Basheer demanded more money, they became suspicious and informed the police.

Trap laid

The police then laid a trap for him, asking him to collect the rest of the money that he had asked for. He was nabbed from the Attingal bus-stand. Basheer was produced in court and remanded in judicial custody on Wednesday, the police said.
