JEE exam passes off smoothly in State

Students, parents reach test centres

The students who appeared for the JEE Main Paper 2 (B.Architecture and B. Planning) exam at various centres in the State on Tuesday heaved a sigh of relief as neither the general strike nor the questions posed any major hurdles to them.

As the dates of the general strike were announced in advance, parents had made arrangements to ensure the smooth transportation of their children to test centres.

They were relieved after the organisers of the general strike announced a day before that private vehicles will not be stopped.

“We never faced any problems on the way to the test centre near Aluva. Vehicles were plying from the morning and we could also see police presence in many spots,” said parents of students who were trying their luck for the second time in the national-level JEE Main Paper 2 exam for admission to courses such as B.Arch and B. Planning in NITs and Centrally funded technical institutes across the country.

Exam in two shifts

The three-hour exam was held in two shifts and Part 1 (Mathematics) and Part 2 (Aptitude test) were in online mode. Part 3 (drawing section) was held in offline mode.

Kurian Cyril, a student who took the test, said the aptitude test and drawing section were easy while maths remained tough. “Six to seven questions in maths were easy while the rest were really tough,” he said.

Teachers at coaching institutes in Kochi said students and their parents could reach test centres without any hindrance on day one of the general strike.
