Janamaitri yatra today

The Shanghumughom sub-division of the City police will take out a ‘Janamaitri Sandesha Yatra’ through the sub-division on Saturday as part of the Janamaitri Suraksha Project.

According to H. Venkatesh, City Police Commissioner, the rally would be the first of its kind by the Janamaitri Police in the State and was aimed at creating awareness on the mission of Janamaitri, which included preventing crime, better liaison between the police and the public and tackling alcohol and drug abuse. The rally would be flagged off from the Kumarichantha Junction at 8 a.m. by Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar and would have the Kerala Police Drama team staging a play on the ill-effects of liquor and drugs.

The rally would then traverse across Poonthura, Valiyathura, Thumba, Sreekariyam, Medical College, Pettah and Vanchiyoor before winding up at the Palkulangara NSS Higher Secondary School around 7 p.m.

K. Padmakumar, ADGP, South Zone, would inaugurate a public meeting.
