Insurance for crops

July 1 will be observed as Crop Insurance Day.

The decision is part of the Agriculture Department’s initiative to provide insurance cover for main crops at a small premium.

Compensation will be given for loss suffered owing to drought, flooding, animal attacks, lightning, earthquake, landslip, and other natural disasters.

All farmers should take part in the campaign being held at all Krishi Bhavans on July 1, Agriculture Deputy Director G. Jayasree has said. Compensation has been increased by up to 10 times.
