Illegal outlet demolished

October 31, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

A wayside outlet functioning illegally near the Government Medical College here was removed on Friday evening.

The building was demolished under the supervision of District Collector Biju Prabhakar following a High Court order.

The outlet was being run by an individual by illegally using the brand name of government agency, Kerala State Horticultural Products Development Corporation Ltd. — Horticorp. This was brought to light after the management of Horticorp clarified that it did not operate the outlet. A favourable judgment obtained by the owner of the outlet was subsequently challenged by an activist, following which its removal was ordered.

The demolition of the stall is expected to improve the traffic flow in front of medical college to a certain extent.
