Illegal occupants to be evicted

The district administration has initiated steps to evict illegal occupants of houses built under the Basic Services to the Urban Poor (BSUP) project at Karimadom colony. District Collector Biju Prabhakar said that notices would be served on occupants of 25 households on Saturday.

There have been complaints of outsiders staying in houses built as part of the project. Some have rented it to others. As many as 320 families on the beneficiary list are still waiting for houses to be allocated. The Collector said that there was a complaint of seven members of one household getting houses under the scheme. Those who have objections to the eviction can produce the documents of their ownership at the Collectorate at 3 p.m. on October 21.
