The indefinite strike that was launched by the entire hospital staff, including nurses, at Cosmopolitan Hospital in the city on Monday over pay revision issues was called off on Tuesday following the intervention of the Labour Commissioner.

The hospital employees had launched the agitation in protest against the slashing of allowances by the hospital management, while implementing revised wages as per the new minimum wages notification.

At the meeting of trade unions and the management called by Labour Commissioner A. Alexander, it was decided that the revised wages as per the Minimum Wages notification 2018 would be implemented this month itself.

Allowances

official statement from the Labour Commissioner’s office said the management had agreed to continue to pay all allowances related to service conditions that were being given to employees earlier and that another discussion would be held later, in the presence of Mr. Alexander, to resolve other allowance-related issues.

The hospital employees will report for the 7 a.m. shift on Wednesday, the representatives of the Joint Action Council of trade unions said.

The hospital will be fully functional from Wednesday, a statement issued by Cosmopolitan Hospitals Pvt Ltd., said.
