Honour for Padma Subrahmanyam

The Nishagandhi Puraskaram, 2015, will be bestowed on Bharatanatyam exponent Padma Subrahmanyam on Tuesday, the inaugural day of Kerala Tourism’s nine-day Nishgandhi dance and music festival.

The award, which carries a cash prize of Rs.1,50,000, citation, and statuette, is being presented for her contribution to Indian classical dance.

“Dr. Padma Subrahmanyan is one of the finest exponents of Bharatanatyam and has played a significant role in reinvigorating the dance form across the world,” said Tourism Minister A.P. Anilkumar while announcing the award.

A jury led by Vice Chancellor of Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University K. Jayakumar selected the winner.
