Hit-and-run driver arrested

The police have arrested the driver of a truck involved in a hit-and-run incident that killed two siblings at Pattanakkad near Cherthala.

The arrested has been identified as Ramesh, 46, of Ponni Nagar, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The police said that they had confiscated the lorry owned by a private transport company based in Trichy. The arrested was produced before a local court and released on bail on Saturday. Ajesh Das, 38 and his brother Aneesh Das, 36, of Veliparambil House, Aayiram Thai, Cherthala South were killed when an unidentified vehicle rear-ended the motorcycle in which they were travelling on near Bishop Moore School on January 10.
