History-sheeter arrested

A notorious history-sheeter Deepu S. Kumar, who was released only last month after a six-month detention under the Kerala Antisocial Activities Prevention Act (KAAPA), has been arrested again by the Sreekaryam police on charges of assault. Sheen Tharayil, Circle Inspector, Medical College, said the Sreekaryam police on Saturday arrested Deepu, a resident of Bapuji Nagar at Pongummoodu, after he terrorised residents of Bapuji Nagar by brandishing a sword and assaulting a person standing on the roadside. Deepu was remanded in judicial custody. — Special Correspondent
