Salary of nurses in Palakkad Government Medical College will be hiked from the current ₹13,900 to ₹ 27,800, according to orders issued by Minister for SC/ST Welfare A.K. Balan.
The medical college functions under the SC/ST Department. Though the GO was brought out in Feb 26, 2016, hiking the pay of daily wage nurses, the increase was not reflected in the salaries of staff nurses in Palakkad Medical College. The reasoning was that appointments through the National Health Mission were not paid government salary.
However, the Minister issued orders making the salary of 28 staff nurses at Palakkad Medical College on par with the basic pay of their counterparts in government service.
