The Thampanoor police on Friday arrested one person on charge of sexually abusing a 16-year-old boy.

The police identified the accused as Nazeer of Thekke Panoor in Kannur. He had sexually abused the boy who had run away from his home, the police said.

Job offer

The accused, who designed costumes for arts festivals, lured the victim by offering him a job as his assistant. He exploited the victim after taking him to a lodge in Thampanoor, the police said.

The incident came to light after the victim revealed his plight to Childline officials. A case was registered at the Viyyur police station and it was later transferred to the Thampanoor police. The accused has been remanded in judicial custody, the police said.
