Hearing on complaint against P.C. George

October 02, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Hearing on the complaint of Government Chief Whip Thomas Unniyadan demanding the disqualification of rebel Kerala Congress (M) leader P.C. George as a member of the Assembly began in the presence of Speaker N. Sakthan here on Thursday.

On taking up the complaint of Mr. Unniyadan, he said that Mr. George, after getting elected Kerala Congress (M) MLA, worked against the party and the UDF. It was at his behest that K. Das was fielded as a candidate of a front floated against corruption in the Aruvikkara Assembly by-election. Kerala Congress (M) chairman K.M. Mani had never said in the Assembly that he approved the activities of the front. Neither Mr. George nor his lawyer K. Ramkumar was present for the hearing. Mr. Sakthan did not accept a request from his representative to put off the hearing.

The hearing would continue at 10 a.m. on October 8.
