The Goods and Service Tax (GST) regime would open up enormous opportunities to entrepreneurs to start new business activities anywhere in the country at the location of their choice, Mathew Jolly of the National Academy of Customs, Excise and Narcotics has said.
Inaugurating a seminar on ‘GST regime:opportunities and challenges’ organised by the Indian Institute of Materials Management (IIMM) here on Thursday, Mr. Jolly said the the honest taxpayer would certainly benefit from the new tax system.
“With GST, we are going to be heavily dependent on technology. Although we are a technological giant, large parts of the country still lacks access to internet and power, but the government is fully prepared, with more than 60,000 employees of both the States and the Centre being trained for the purpose,” he said.
