Green protocol should be implemented in all government offices in the State by June 5, Chief Secretary Paul Antony has said.
The State-level offices should in the first phase implement the protocol in full and set a model to all offices in the State, he said.
He was speaking after inaugurating a training programme organised by KILA and Haritha Mission for nodal officers engaged for implementing the green protocol in government offices here on Tuesday.
The state of hygiene and cleanliness in government offices at present was not at all satisfactory and the green protocol implementation will be successful only if Malayalis change their attitude and behaviour to suit the adoption of an eco-friendly lifestyle, Mr. Antony said.
Garbage issue
The green protocol can to a large extent reduce the garbage issue in the State, executive vice chairperson of Haritha Keralam Mission T.N. Seema said.
The training programme dealt with classes on how degradable and non-biodegradable garbage should be dealt with in offices, what a green office should be like as well as experience-sharing on successful implementation of green protocol.
