Govt. intimidating officials: CPI

June 07, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - Thiruvananthapuram:

The Communist Party of India (CPI) State council has accused the United Democratic Front (UDF) government of intimidating senior officials to cover up corruption and shield the guilty.

A pressnote on Saturday quoting party State secretary Kanam Rajendran said Chief Secretary Jiji Thomson had to face the ire of the Cabinet for his candid observations on the palmolein import case.

The press note said the editorial in the party mouthpiece carried a veiled threat against the Chief Secretary and other officials who failed to toe the government’s line.

Alleging that the government would go any extend to protect the corrupt, Mr. Rajendran asked Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president V.M. Sudheeran to clarify his stand on the issue.
