Germany Visa Application Centre will start functioning in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi from March 14 to provide business and tourist visas swiftly.

Announcing this at a press conference here on Monday, Joern Rohde, Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bangalore, said the two centres in Kerala would be formally launched jointly by German Ambassador Michael Steiner and Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development Shashi Tharoor.

Mr. Rohde, who is in charge of Kerala and Karnataka, said “we have kept the promise made last year to open the visa offices here”. The centre in the capital would function from Asia Towers near the Technopark and the one in Kochi on MG Road at Palarivattom.

The opening of the visa application centres was part of a move to provide business and tourist visas within three days and without having to go to German consulates in the metros.
