Garbage plants: feasibility study to be conducted

A meeting convened by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy here on Wednesday decided to carry out a feasibility study to set up garbage treatment plants for Kochi city and six municipalities.

The meeting decided to keep the existing solid waste management plant in Kochi operational. The Kochi Corporation would provide financial assistance for the plant.

Mr. Chandy directed officials to conduct the feasibility study immediately. Ministers K. Babu and Manjalamkuzhy Ali, MLAs Benny Behnan, Dominic Presentation and Hibi Eden, Mayor Tony Chammany and senior officials participated.
