The Fort police on Friday arrested from Muttathara a gang that used domestic LPG cylinders to fill up for LPG-fitted vehicles. According to the police, Shivakumar, 39, of Ponnara Nagar in Muttathara; Vijayan, 43, residing near Vaduvathu Kovil in Muttathara; and Subhash, 33, of Perunelli in Muttathara were arrested from Shivakumar’s residence in Ponnara Nagar after the police got a tip-off that the trio were engaged in gas refilling for vehicles there. Shivakumar, the police said, was an accused in a case registered with the Fort police station earlier, when an illegal gas refilling station had exploded, gutting houses in the same area.
