Gandhidarsan award for Dalai Lama

The Dalai Lama has been selected for the Gandhi Global Foundation’s Gandhidarsan International Award.

The award comprises a purse of ₹3 lakh, a citation, and sculpture, foundation president S. Vijayan said at a press conference here on Tuesday.

Best Parliamentarian

The Gandhidarsan National Awards were also announced by P.D.T. Achary, former Lok Sabha secretary general. Mr Acahary and K.T. Thomas, former Supreme Court and patron of the foundation are the two-member jury that decided the awards. The award for the best Parliamentarian has gone to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

Pinarayi is best CM

The award for the best Chief Minister has gone to Pinarayi Vijayan.

The award for spiritual service has gone to Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and Philipose Mar Chrysostom, Metropolitan Emeritus of the Mar Thoma Syrian Church of Malabar.

The award for humanitarian service has gone to tribal healer Lakshmikutty, while the award for medical service has gone to T.K. Jayakumar, Head, Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery, Government Medical College, Kottayam.

M.A. Yusuf Ali, B.R. Shetty, and B. Govindan have been selected for the business awards.

Joseph Pulikunnel has been selected for the award for philanthropy to be given posthumously.

The national awards comprise a purse of ₹1 lakh, citation, and sculpture. The national awards will be presented across three venues — in the city on January 30, in Bengaluru on February 27, and in New Delhi on March 4 at the foundation’s international conferences.
