Follow model code of conduct: Collector

Candidates and political parties should follow strictly the model code of conduct for the upcoming local body elections, District Collector Biju Prabhakar has said.

He was speaking at a meeting with the representatives of various political parties at the Collectorate here on Tuesday. The parties should avoid speeches, posters and notices which could cause religious and caste divisions and which go into the private life of their opponents.

Must be under 85 decibels

Sound system being used should be of less than 85 decibels. The parties should not spend beyond the limits specified by the Election Commission for their campaigning. Voters should not be bribed.

Properties of private individuals, including land, building or walls, should not be used without permission, said the Collector.

The nomination papers can be submitted from Wednesday till 3 p.m. on October 14. The papers will not be accepted on October 10 and 11, which are holidays.
