The Thiruvananthapuram Matsyathozhilali Forum has urged the State government to exert pressure on the Centre to finalise the new Marine Coastal Regulation Zone notification at the earliest.
In a press note issued here recently, the forum said the draft Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP) had been prepared in haste and was not made available to local traditional communities.
Demanding cancellation of the public hearing on the draft plan, it called upon the Kerala Coastal Zone Management Authority to seek more time for the preparation of a thorough CZMP.
