The CPI(M) State secretariat has demanded that the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) repeal the order to levy a fine from consumers if meters are inaccessible for reading power consumption.
The secretariat said in a statement here on Wednesday that as per the order, if the doors are locked when board personnel arrive at a residence for meter reading the board would levy a fine of Rs.250 to Rs.500. Employees of the board do not go for reading meters on a fixed date and hence the employed cannot wait indefinitely for them. This order would cause great inconvenience to the public. Hence, the board should immediately repeal the order, the statement said. – Special Correspondent
