In a first of its kind in Malayalam cinema, a feature film is all set to have release on cable TV.
Aalroopangal , directed by C.V. Premkumar, is to be telecast across the State over Kerala Vision Digital TV from May 24 to 30.
Kerala Vision subscribers can avail a Rs. 100 recharge coupon to watch the movie on the scheduled days which has five shows slotted at 9 a.m., 12 p.m., 3 p.m., 6 p. m., and 9 p.m. on these days.
Addressing a news conference here on Monday, M.A. Noushad, producer, said the makers of the film had come up with the idea of a TV release as distributers were reluctant to take up the low-budget movie for fear of low returns. “We don’t want the audience to miss out on our movie just because the distributors do not believe in its potential,” he said.
Kerala Vision had released a Tamil movie likewise previously but this is a first for a Malayalam movie.
“We consider this a milestone of our organisation and we will continue to encourage premiere telecast of feature films in our channel,” said a Kerala Vision representative.
