Dismissal of employee: VS flays bank’s action

VS flays bank management

June 22, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - Thiruvananthapuram:

Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan on Sunday strongly criticised the management of Dhanlaxmi Bank for its “anti-union stand and its vindictive action against trade union leaders.”

In a statement here, Mr. Achuthanandan asked the bank management to cancel the dismissal notice served on P.V. Mohanan, general secretary of Dhanlaxmi Bank Officers Organisation, and reinstate him unconditionally. Mr. Mohanan, who is also the AIBOC national vice-president and State president, was allegedly dismissed without being served notice. The bank officers have been on an indefinite strike since then. Bank officers’ organisations in the State also staged a token strike on June 12. It was unfortunate that the bank management was not prepared to go back on its decision, which might have a long lasting effect on the banking sector, he said.
