The curtain will come down on the 23rd edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) on Thursday evening.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the closing ceremony to be held at Nishagandhi Auditorium at 6 p.m.
Ministers to attend
A.K. Balan, Minister for Culture, will preside over the ceremony. V.S. Sunil Kumar, Minister for Agriculture, will be the chief guest.
Following the ceremony, the winner of the award for the best film in International Competition will be screened.
The Film Society Federation of India’s K.R. Mohanan Endowment for the Best Debut Director from India will also be presented at the ceremony.
Indian films including the ones in International Competition will be eligible for the award.
International section
As many as 14 films from Asia, Africa, and Latin America are in the International Competition section of the fete.
Malayalam films
Of the four Indian films in the competition for the Golden Crow Pheasant, the Malayalam films are Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Ee.Ma.Yau and Zakariya’s Sudani From Nigeria .
A total of 36 films will be screened on Thursday, the final day of the festival.
Seven competition films: The Silence (Dhanya, 9.30 a.m.), The Dark Room (Dhanya, 12 p.m.), Taking the Horse to Eat Jalebis (Dhanya, 3 p.m.),
The Red Phallus (Kairali, 9 a.m.), Poisonous Roses (Kairali, 11.30 a.m.), Widow of Silence (Kairali, 3 p.m.) and Sudani from Nigeria (Kalabhavan, 3.15 p.m.) will be screened.
Under the World Cinema Category, 17 films, including Gasper Noe’s Climax (Tagore, 9 a.m.),
Jafar Panahi’s 3 Faces (Tagore 11.30 a.m., and Pooya Badkoobeh’s Dressage (Remya 9.45 a.m.) will be screened.
Forman retrospective
Amadeus (New Screen 2, 3 p.m.) and The Firemen’s Ball (Nila, 11.45 a.m.) will reach the cinephiles under the ‘Remembering the Master: Milos Forman’ package.
Bergman category
Persona under ‘Celebrating Ingmar Bergman’ and Daivathinte Vikrithikal under ‘Lenin Rajendran: Chronicler of our Times’ will have its only screening.
