Factions at loggerheads for more than two years

July 18, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

The merger of the two factions of the Federation of Residents’ Associations, Thiruvananthapuram (FRAT) has been approved by the court.

The compromise petition filed on the basis of a decision taken at a joint meeting of the factions headed by Pattom Sasidharan Nair and T.K. Bhaskara Panicker on June 28 was approved by the Thiruvananthauram Munsif Court. The election of Pattom Sasidharan Nair as president, T.K. Bhaskara Panicker as working president, M.S. Venugopal as general secretary, Maruthankuzhy Satheesh Kumar as organising general secretary, and C. Manoharan Nair as treasurer for the year 2015 was approved as per the court order.

The order also recognised the sets of office-bearers led by Pattom Sasidharan Nair in 2013 and T.K. Bhaskara Panicker in 2014.

The court also directed the District Registrar to include in the registers concerned the office-bearers’ list for 2015 and those approved for the two previous years.

The development brings to a close the rift among the two factions spanning two-and-a-half years. The federation vowed to bring together all residents’ associations in Thiruvananthapuram district and strive for their comprehensive development and social security, Mr. Sasidharan Nair and Mr. Bhaskara Panicker said at a press meet on Friday.
