Congress flays VS for remarks about Antony

June 26, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:50 am IST - Thiruvananthapuram:

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Thursday termed Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan’s adverse remarks about Congress Working Committee member A.K. Antony “unfortunate.”

In a statement here, Mr. Chandy said the electorate of the Kollam Lok Sabha constituency had punished the CPI(M) candidate for the party’s State secretary’s snide remarks about RSP leaders.

‘Uncharitable remarks’

“The electorate of Aruvikkara will give a similar reply to Mr. Achuthanandan for his uncharitable remarks,” he said.

In another statement, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala demanded an apology from Mr. Achuthanandan for his remarks on Mr. Antony.

‘Reply through ballot’

Considering Mr. Achuthanandan’s stature and age, these statements are ludicrous.

“The people of Aruvikkara will give their reply through the ballot. It is really surprising that Mr. Achuthanandan, who is harsh in his criticism of others, should be intolerant when he is targeted. His statement exposes the degeneration that had set in the CPI(M),” he said.
