Committed to developing State: BJP

Government was keen on welfare measures aimed at bringing economically and socially deprived sections to the mainstream.

Union Minister of State for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Pon Radhakrishnan on Monday said that the National Democratic Alliance government was committed to the development needs of the State. Addressing a campaign meeting in the city, he said the NDA, after it came to power, announced infrastructure development projects in the State to the tune of Rs.34,000 crore.

The Vizhinjam international seaport project which was hanging fire for long had been implemented by NDA, he said. He said the government, while giving priority to development works, was keen on welfare measures aimed at bringing economically and socially deprived sections to the mainstream.
