CM to present media, literary awards

The awards are instituted by Kerala State Council for Child Welfare

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will present the media and literary awards for the year 2016, instituted by the Kerala State Council for Child Welfare, at a function to be held at University College here on Thursday.

According to council general secretary S.P. Deepak, the media awards included the N. Narendran memorial award for the best news on children, the Victor George memorial award for the best news photograph on children, and T.N. Gopakumar memorial award for the best television programme on children.

Award winners

The literary awards were aimed at felicitating children, aged between five and 16, who have published literary works. The awards in Malayalam and English have been instituted in memory of O.N.V. Kurup and Kamala Surayya. The N. Narendran memorial award will be presented to Lincy Philip, sub-editor, Kerala Bhooshanam (Thiruvalla ) and the Victor George memorial award will go to Manu Viswanath, Kottayam unit chief photographer of Deshabhimani . Rinkuraj Mattancheriyil, senior photographer of Malayala Manorama, and C. Biju, chief photographer (Alappuzha) of Mathrubhumi , will receive the special awards in the category. P.K. Shyam Krishnan, news editor of Media One , will be given the T.N. Gopakumar memorial award. S. Binu Raj, chief reporter of Asianet News, will receive a special award in the category.

The O.N.V. memorial award will be presented to K. Anamika, a Class 10 student of Farooq Higher Secondary School, Kozhikode, while Eliya Boudhan of Kayamkulam and Malavika Thampi of Thiruvananthapuram will receive special awards. The Kamala Surayya memorial award will go to Diya S. Harish, a Class 8 student of Army Public School, Pangode.
