CM opens anniversary fete of Sanskrit college

Language need not be linked with any religion, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said.

He was speaking after inaugurating Thrimshotthari, the 130th anniversary celebrations of Government Sanskrit College, and its newly built academic block here on Wednesday.

Mr. Vijayan said that no language could be seen as the property of any religious group. The term Sanskrit was being subjected to distortions in these times. Be it Ayurveda, mathematics, logic, Kavyameemamsa, or literature, the country’s age-old knowledge was in Sanskrit. In modern times, superstitions could be spread in the name of Sanskrit texts. Whatever needed to be given up should be sacrificed and whatever needed to be imbibed should be accepted. There was no need to reject the language outright, the Chief Minister said.

Minister for Higher Secondary Education K.T. Jaleel presided. He said undergraduate and postgraduate courses would be started in the State for yoga.
