CM inaugurates literacy mission’s new building

At a time when some sections of people are attempting to create divisiveness in society, the Kerala State Literacy Mission Authority’s projects with a humanistic touch are a model for the country, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Kerala State Literacy Mission Authority’s headquarters at Pettah here on Thursday.

Mr. Vijayan said Kerala was the only State to be invited to the International Literacy Day celebrations held in Delhi. The literacy mission’s efforts to identify marginalised sections of society and implement literacy and continuing education programmes for them were being eagerly watched by people around the world, he said.

New sense of unity

The Chief Minister said owing to the mission’s efforts, migrant workers were able to speak Malayalam well today. Its tribal literacy programme in which people from within the tribal community were selected as teachers was creating an educational revolution in the State.
