Solutions to various burning social problems were mooted by students from three schools at Kanthari Bytes held on the Kanthari campus at Vellayani on Saturday afternoon.
A gathering of over 150 people, comprising students, parents, and teachers, had gathered on the campus for the programme. The students from Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, Venganoor Girl’s High School, and Sarvodaya Central Vidyalaya gave their inputs on issues such as child labour, pollution of natural resources, gender equality, and waste management through theatre, mime, posters, poems, videos, and PowerPoint presentations.
“This is the culmination of a five-week programme of community outreach. We held campaigns in seven schools and eight colleges in Thiruvananthapuram dealing with issues such as skin colour prejudices, environmental issues, and discrimination against women, and challenged the students to find solutions,” said Answer Nzuma, a participant from South Africa, who organised the event. People from 14 countries worked together for the initiative.
