Career guidance expo begins

A two-day education expo and career guidance programme organised by the District Council for Child Welfare got under way here on Friday.

Tourism and Cooperation Minister Kadakampally Surrendran inaugurated the programme, titled SKOPOS 2018, being held at the Government College for Women.

The programme aims at guiding students of Class 10, Plus One and Plus Two to choose the right career options. The expo has stalls on professional colleges and arts and science educational institutions, coaching centres, recognised certificate course centres, etc. A helpdesk to clear doubts on various higher education centres and scholarships has also been set up.

Career guidance sessions on civil services, national and international avenues for postgraduate studies and employment, tourism will be handled by former Ambassador T.P. Srinivasan, P.R. Venkitaraman, K. Jayakumar, Usha Titus, Adheela Abdhulla, and Shyamnadh, among others.

Expo organising committee chairman Puthankada Vijayan, District Council for Child Welfare secretary Madathara Sugathan, SKOPOS director G.L. Arun Gopi, coordinator Anu Devarajan, among others, spoke.
