October 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 09:50 am IST - Thiruvananthapuram:

The Cantonment police have registered a case following complaints from relatives and colleagues of a television channel cameraman who died in the General Hospital (GH) here on Tuesday.

According to the police, Rejimon, 32, of Anayara, had collapsed in his office and was rushed to the GH around 4.30 p.m., where the duty doctor is said to have administered various injections, including that for epilepsy.

He, however, breathed his last soon, after which colleagues and relatives picked up an argument over alleged negligence on the part of the duty doctor, Aysha. Relatives said Rejimon had no history of epilepsy and accused the doctor of administering the wrong medicine.

Controversy

With the incident turning a controversy, Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar has suspended the doctor pending inquiry while the body was shifted to the Government Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, to be held on Wednesday.

Rejimon is survived by his wife Sudhi and a three-year-old daughter.

Relatives accuse doctor of administering wrong medicine to the victim.
