The Kerala State Centre for Women’s Studies has brought out a calendar, highlighting the rights of children and the rules regarding the same.

It was released by B. Sandhya, ADGP, earlier this week, a pressnote released from Centre director P.S. Sreekala informs.

Ms. Sreekala says the calendar has 12 selected rights and laws regarding rights of children, with description of each being given in Malayalam and English along with illustrations for each month.

Right to education

These included the right to education, right to nutrition, protection against exploitation, right to livelihood and so on.

The idea, Ms. Sreekala said, was to ensure that the calendar reached the maximum number of children across the State.

“We want to have at least one calendar in every classroom in the State’s schools and colleges,” she said, adding that the district coordinators of the Centre, who were currently into the sixth month of the Centre’s two-year study project on adolescent girls, would set out with the mission of ensuring maximum reach for the calendar.

The calendar release function at the Manacaud Government Girls’ Vocational Higher Secondary School, presided over by T.N. Seema, MP, saw an audience comprising parents, teachers and students applauding the initiative.
