A 68-year-old pedestrian was killed after being hit by a private bus at Kallambalam on Thursday.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Baby of 28th Mile at Navaikulam. The incident occurred at the Kallambalam junction by around 8.30 a.m. He was knocked down by the bus which was headed towards Attingal from Varkala. Despite being rushed to a private hospital nearby, his life could not be saved. The body was later shifted to the Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College Hospital.

While there were reports that the accident victim was ignored by passersby and left to bleed for around half-an-hour, the police denied such claims and said that a police party, which was present in the area, lost no time in transporting the victim to the nearest hospital. A case has been registered in connection with the incident.
