October 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - Thiruvananthapuram:

Congress Working Committee member A.K. Antony on Tuesday said that the election alliance between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam (SNDP) had lost steam and is currently confined to certain isolated localities.

At a press conference here, Mr. Antony said the SNDP and the BJP will become the ultimate losers. Initially, the alliance moves did create a commotion, but it does not pose any threat to the UDF. In reply to another question that the Congress was hobnobbing with the BJP and playing up communal politics, Mr. Antony alleged that the CPI(M) and the LDF had always exploited caste and religion for electoral gains. With regard to the controversy over the death of Swami Saswathikananda, he said t he probe had established that the death occurred owing to drowning.
