Those arriving for the Karkidaka Vavu Bali rituals should strictly follow the green protocol, Minister for Devaswom Kadakampally Surendran has said.

Presiding over a meeting here on Wednesday, the Minister said plastic covers, food in plastic and thermocol vessels, and mineral water bottles should not be brought to the Bali centres or sold there. Strict security arrangements would be made for the Bali.

He appealed to the people to be alert at the bathing ghats. Lifeguards would be deployed and the Coast Guard too would keep a watch.

At Shanghumughom, where the raging sea has clawed away the land, offering of Bali would be regulated. Security would be tightened at Shanghumughom, Varkala, Aluva, and Thirumullavaram, Mr. Surendran said.

At Varkala

Minister for Public Works G. Sudhakaran said that ₹5.93 lakh had been sanctioned for providing power connection to Varkala Papanasam. This follows a plea by V. Joy, local MLA.

Private organisations would be regulated at Shanghumughom, District Collector K. Vasuki said. Those reaching Shanghumughom for the ritual would not be allowed to take a dip in the sea.
